2025 Toyota Corolla GR Sport Facelift Launches in Malaysia, Starting at RM150k!

Alongside the facelift GR Yaris, Toyota also introduced the updated Corolla GR Sport at the Sepang International Circuit during the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival Season Finale. Fully imported from Thailand, it’s priced from RM149,800.

The facelifted Corolla GR Sport gets a few noticeable updates to its exterior. The front bumper now has bigger air vents that stretch across the entire width. The front grille has also been redesigned to resemble the standard Corolla, unlike the previous design where the headlights and grille appeared as a single strip.

The headlights now have a smoked effect, and the 18-inch wheels keep a similar design. You can also choose a dual-tone paint option for a sportier appearance. At the back, the Corolla GR Sport features a rear boot spoiler and a redesigned rear diffuser.

Inside, the full leather seats from the previous model have been swapped for a combination of leather and suede. Red stitching has been added to the steering wheel, dashboard, gear lever boot, and seats, giving the interior a fresh, sporty look.

As before, the Corolla GR Sport comes with GR logos on the headrests, GR carpets, and a GR push start button. New additions include red seatbelts and a GR logo on the steering wheel. The driver now gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, which is also available in the 1.8 G variant.

For charging, there are USB-C ports and a wireless charger. The infotainment system uses the same 9-inch touchscreen but now features a new user interface.

The Corolla GR Sport is built for better handling, equipped with GR springs, GR dampers, and an anti-roll bar, along with a retuned power steering system. However, the engine output remains the same. It has a 1.8-liter engine producing 139 hp and 172 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT gearbox that now offers 10 virtual ratios instead of seven.

Safety features are unchanged. The car still includes seven airbags, a pre-collision system, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, automatic high beam, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind spot monitor.

With the combination of these updates, the facelifted Corolla GR Sport aims to strike a balance between sportiness and practicality, offering enhanced aesthetics and improved driving dynamics without compromising fuel efficiency. For enthusiasts looking for a sporty sedan with modern tech features and Toyota’s renowned reliability, the Corolla GR Sport presents an attractive option at a competitive price point.
