Perodua and Telekom Malaysia Join Forces to Develop Advanced EV Technology

TM has partnered with Perodua to support the development of electric vehicles (EVs), digital innovation, and sustainable growth. This collaboration aligns with Malaysia’s goal of creating a strong and competitive automotive industry under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030).

The partnership was formalized during a signing ceremony between TM’s Group CEO, Amar Huzaimi Md. Deris, and Perodua’s President and CEO, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad. The collaboration will focus on four key areas: building advanced networks, improving digital technology, enhancing customer experiences, and promoting environmental sustainability.

Through TM One, its enterprise and government solutions arm, TM will upgrade Perodua’s infrastructure with fixed and wireless connectivity, including SD-WAN solutions for dealer networks, private 5G for automotive applications, and smart manufacturing technology to improve production. These upgrades will boost Perodua’s operations, improve data management, and support future growth. TM One will also use its expertise in cloud, cybersecurity, data analytics, and AI to provide innovative solutions for smart manufacturing, GPU services, EV technology, and autonomous driving.

In addition, TM and Perodua aim to expand their market reach and brand presence through co-created products and strategies. This includes custom infotainment systems, smart mapping tools, and digital marketing efforts to attract new customers. Both companies are also committed to environmental sustainability, working on clean energy solutions for EV charging stations and waste reduction to support Malaysia’s environmental goals. By investing in workforce training, research and development, and sustainable practices, the partnership hopes to drive innovation and create a digitally connected, eco-friendly automotive industry in Malaysia.

Amar Huzaimi Md Deris shared that this partnership shows TM’s commitment to digital transformation in the automotive sector. “By providing high-speed connectivity and scalable digital solutions, this partnership will help Perodua achieve greater innovation and growth. It also supports TM’s goal of becoming a Digital Powerhouse, driving industry growth and creating opportunities for the nation,” he said.

Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin highlighted that the collaboration aligns with Perodua’s mission to modernize the automotive industry and improve customer experiences. “This partnership benefits our customers and has a positive impact on Malaysia’s digital and automotive industries. It gives us the chance to improve efficiency, quality, and delivery while addressing challenges in innovative ways,” he said.
