Chery Tiggo 8 Pro e+: New PHEV Model Set to Arrive in Malaysia by 2025
Chery Malaysia has announced plans to expand its lineup next year to include plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), adding to the petrol (ICE) and electric (BEV) models it already offers.
While the specific model wasn’t mentioned, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro e+ is the most likely option. It has been shown in Malaysia several times, including at the MITI Day event this year, and the company has already confirmed that this model is coming to Malaysia.
The Tiggo 8 Pro e+ PHEV will have a smaller 1.5-liter turbocharged engine compared to the 2.0-liter turbo engine in the regular Tiggo 8 Pro. This engine works with a hybrid system that includes two electric motors—one for driving the car and another for energy recovery—using a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT).
Together, the hybrid setup produces 326 hp and 545 Nm of torque, powering the front wheels. In the Philippines, the Tiggo 8 Pro e+ comes with a 19.27 kWh battery, offering up to 75 km of electric-only range (based on NEDC testing) and a total range of up to 950 km when using both the engine and the battery fully.
Since Chery has selected Malaysia as its right-hand drive (RHD) manufacturing hub, it’s likely that the Tiggo 8 Pro e+ PHEV will also be assembled locally at Inokom’s plant in Kulim, Kedah. This could happen either at launch or shortly after.
The petrol version of the model is already locally assembled in Malaysia from the start and is offered in a single variant priced at RM159,800.
