Proton Boosts Supplier Capabilities for Next-Gen EVs with Vendor Program in China.

Proton recently worked with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development, MARii, and MIDF to bring suppliers, including those from government-linked companies (GLCs), to a vendor improvement program in China. The goal is to help suppliers reach new markets and share technology.

This program was created after Proton's survey found that 87% of local suppliers were interested in working with Chinese companies. These partnerships could include distribution, technology sharing, joint ventures, skill building and investing in new businesses together.

This initiative is an important step toward improving Malaysia's automotive industry, particularly in the key area of electric vehicle (EV) parts. The program has helped create partnerships and share technology to strengthen the local EV supply chain.

Proton is optimistic about the future of EVs in Malaysia. At the event, they showcased new EV concepts and models, giving a preview of their future plans. This effort aligns with the global shift toward electric vehicles and Malaysia’s goal to lead the region in EV technology.

Proton’s focus on electric vehicles underscores its commitment to innovation and sustainability. By collaborating with both local and international partners, Proton aims to build a strong EV ecosystem in Malaysia. This will create opportunities for local suppliers, support a greener future, and strengthen Proton’s role as a leader in the changing automotive industry.

Proton’s recent supplier enhancement program and focus on EV development highlight its commitment to advancing Malaysia’s automotive sector. By promoting local partnerships and adopting new technologies, Proton is setting the stage for a sustainable and prosperous future.
