Exciting News: Jaecoo J7 Launching in Malaysia on July 19!

After being previewed in Malaysia earlier this year, the Jaecoo J7 will officially launch locally this Friday, July 19th. Jaecoo Malaysia will broadcast the launch event of this C-segment SUV starting at 3pm on various social media channels, as announced by the brand.

In January of this year, Jaecoo showcased two versions of the J7: one with front-wheel drive and the other with all-wheel drive. Both models are powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces 194 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque. They come with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to deliver power to the wheels.

The AWD model of the J7 comes with seven selectable terrain modes. For off-road capability, the J7 has a ground clearance of 200 mm, can wade through water up to 600 mm deep, and features approach and departure angles of 21 degrees and 29 degrees, respectively.

The Jaecoo J7 is sized like other SUVs in its category, measuring 4,500 mm long, 1,865 mm wide, 1,680 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,672 mm. The top AWD variant estimated price is around RM160,000, similar to the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, which costs about RM159,800.

During its preview, the J7 displayed 19-inch Aurora design alloy wheels, along with LED headlights, daytime running lights and welcome lights. Inside, the SUV is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front seats that can be cooled, leather upholstery, a 50-watt air-cooled wireless charger, ambient lighting with 64 color options, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a powered tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof.

The J7 comes equipped with 21 advanced driving features for safety and assistance. These include automatic emergency braking (AEB), front collision warning, lane departure warning and prevention, emergency lane keeping, intelligent evasion system, curve speed assistance, departure ahead inform, and 540-degree panoramic camera (AVM).

The J7 also includes door opening warnings, park assist, rear collision warnings, rear cross-traffic alerts, rear cross-traffic braking, blind-spot detection, lane changing assistance, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist.

Earlier this year, we got to try out the Jaecoo J7 at the Malaysia 4WD Training and Experience Centre (M4TREC) to see how well it handles off-road. Now, as it gets ready for its official launch in Malaysia, what are your thoughts on the Jaecoo J7?
