JPJ Issues Recalls for Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, and Chery Vehicles.


The Malaysian road transport department (JPJ) has released a list of product recalls affecting various automotive brands in the country. This round of recalls includes Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, and Chery. Click on the respective brand names below for more details on their recall information.

In Malaysia, recent product recalls have affected vehicles from Toyota and Mercedes-Benz. Toyota is recalling 2,739 units of the Corolla Cross manufactured between July 2023 and September 2023. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz has issued recalls for various models, including the C 200 (January 2023 – July 2023) with one unit affected, and several other models like the EQS 500 4Matic, GLE 450 4Matic, and others, totaling 1,297 units and 1,302 units respectively, produced between 2018



Regarding the recent widely publicized case of rear axle failure in a Chery Omoda 5 customer vehicle, which stemmed from a welding issue, JPJ announced that Chery Auto Malaysia Sdn Bhd initiated recalls starting May 3, 2024. The company has inspected 98.67% (592 out of 600) of the affected units as of June 7.

The remaining owners have been contacted, and inspections are projected to conclude by the end of June 2024, according to JPJ.
