Official confirmation is that the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro will be launched in the first half of 2024

Recently, we obtained official information from the original factory that the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro will be introduced to the local market in 2024. Serving as the sibling model to the Tiggo 8 Pro, this vehicle will experience some downsizing, both in terms of space and engine, offering only 5 seats and a 1.6L TGDI engine. However, it is anticipated that the starting price will be from RM 140,000!

We Test Drove The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro And Loved It

Tiggo 7 Pro is essentially the 5-seat version of the Tiggo 8 Pro, which is currently available in the Australian market. Despite being sibling models, the T7P has its own distinct style. Firstly, at the front, it features a large area grille guard, adorned with numerous chrome accents in a dot pattern, complemented by LED headlights with a fishbone design. Moving to the rear, it adopts a 3D LED continuous taillight design, ensuring high visibility during nighttime.

The vehicle dimensions are 4,500 x 1,842 x 1,746 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm, placing it in the C-Segment SUV category. Its primary competitors include the Proton X70, Mazda CX-5, Honda CR-V, Nissan X-Trail, and Peugeot 3008, among others.

In terms of interior design, the T7P shares a highly similar design style with the T8P, featuring dual screens, an electronic gear shifter, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and more. The new car will also come equipped with Level 2 semi-automatic driving assistance systems, similar to Omoda 5 and T8P, as well as Sony-branded speakers. Based on our previous on-site experience, its spatial performance is generally on par, placing it in the same league as the Proton X70.

While the Chinese version of this car is equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged engine, in Malaysia, it adopts a 1.6L TGDI engine with a maximum horsepower of 197 Hp and peak torque of 290 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Although this powertrain is somewhat distant from the T8P's 2.0L turbocharged engine, it still positions the T7P in the top tier among its competitors. However, the brand currently faces challenges related to production capacity and after-sales service, and it remains to be seen how the manufacturer will address these issues in the coming year.
