Proton S70: Surpasses 3,000 Bookings with Over 900 Weekly Reservations
More than 3,000 reservations for the Proton S70 have been made by Malaysian drivers since reservations opened on November 1, 2023. Proton stated that 1,200 reservations had been made for the S70 since its launch last week. It's more than 3,000 in only one week.
In case you were unaware, the Proton S70 was introduced in four different variants: Executive, Premium, Flagship, and Flagship X. The standard Executive model costs RM73,800, while the top-of-the-line Flagship X model costs RM94,800. Additionally, Proton provided eye-catching early bird bundles to the first 3,000 clients.
Since Proton and Geely partnered, the Proton S70 is the first Proton sedan to be released. It is named after the three SUVs produced by the company: the X50, X70, and X90. Proton refers to the S70 as a C-segment saloon, as implied by the numbers in its name, even though it mostly competes with B-segment saloons in Malaysia, such as the Toyota Vios.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged MPI engine powering all 4 Proton S70 models is the same engine seen in lower-end X50 variations. It produces 226 Nm and 150 horsepower (metric). Power is solely sent to the front wheels when paired with a 7-speed DCT. The S70's 0-100 km/h acceleration time and fuel economy are not publicly available.
A 5-year/unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty, six times free labor service, financing interest rates starting at 2.34% pa, and the Proton insurance program come standard with the Proton S70. Additionally, a 5-year data bundle with 1GB of data per month is available, but only for the Flagship and Flagship X models.
You most likely missed out on the early bird package, which was available to the first 3,000 owners of cars registered by February 29. It included an aero kit worth RM3,130 for the Flagship variant only, an RM500 service voucher for the Premium and Flagship variants only, and an upgraded Proton insurance program with free first-year Special Perils coverage.
